During my internship with Washington Improv Theater, I had a great time learning the ins-and-outs of external relations. From donor prospecting to social media marketing to writing weekly newsletters, I got to do a lot, and was fortunate to connect with the theatre’s community through many different channels. At WIT, we curated an online presence that was interactive, inclusive, and brought laughter to our donors and students.
Social Media Marketing
Here are some snazzy graphics I helped design for WIT’s social media channels. To make these, I learned how to use Canva and InDesign.
During my internship, I also got to try my hand at Instagram takeovers! I really had a blast giving people a behind-the-scenes look at my life at the theatre. Throughout the takeovers, I tried to keep things casual and open in order to create the same welcoming space that members of the improv community love to be part of at WIT classes and shows. I included a mix of Q&As, Instagram polls, and vlog-style stories to encourage audience engagement. For the first of my two takeovers, I took our followers to musical improv class with me. For the second, I documented the WIT staff’s holiday shopping and decorating extravaganza to promote our December shows. If you’d like to watch either takeover, please contact me directly and I would be happy to supply you a recording!
